I wanted to be a chooti girl

Né d’un père sri-lankais et d’une mère française, j’ai grandi en pensant que j’étais blanche.
Dans ce film, je déconstruis mon identité métisse, entre fantasmes et désillusions. À travers les images qui m’ont façonnées, celles que je capture aujourd’hui, ou celles issues de rêveries, je chemine en réinventant les absences de mon récit familial, à travers la voie universelle des récits d’immigration.

Born to a Sri Lankan father and a French mother, I grew up believing I was white.
In this film, I deconstruct my mixed-race identity, navigating between fantasies and disillusionment. Through the images that shaped me, those I capture today, and those born of daydreams, I journey by reinventing the absences in my family narrative, following the universal thread of migration stories.
